Finally there's a mating at the beginning of the story, however, it still didn't bring the mates closer together, and I didn't really like Myron (fox shifter) through most of the book. There were some parts of this that I had a very difficult time reading due to the violence inflicted on an innocent (don't mind it as much if it's done to evil doers). Naturally, Joe Hephner makes an appearance, like always, and it's clear that there will be no end to that man,
or threat. I do wish that Caleb and Myron would have had the time to get to know each other after they mated, instead of all of Myron's antics. I did love how the Ultionem came through at the end and made things right. Johnny was also adorably precious with his surprise for Hawk. Overall this still had me glued to its pages.

While the book follows the basic plan, little bit of fun, lots of drama and good sex scenes. This book was a fun read, you get characters from previous books with a few new characters introduced to give a well balanced book.

I enjoyed this and it has inspired me to re-read the entire Brac Village series again. I am excited about the upcoming books as well! If you like other books by this author you will like this one. If I read correctly there are four new books coming out in the Brac Village series. It will be a long wait but I'm very excited!
This addition was enjoyable...I didn't care for Myron at first but by the end I understood him and was flashing and Caleb got their HEA...
Once again Lynn Hagen has my full attention! I love all things Brac ) this story starts with Myron "Fox shifter" getting into a difficult situation with a Alpha, who he ends up insulting. Has Myron running for his life, Caleb is a wolf shifter who catches Myron in his fox form when he runs into his establishment. When Caleb realizes that they are mates, he must try and keep Myron safe.
I can't wait to read the next book in this wonderful series!

While I enjoy Lynn Hagen's books and have just about everything dealing with the world of Maverick Brac . . . In this story the situations are darker than usual. Myron comes from a rough life, is on the edge, and going downhill fast. He's in the wrong place with the wrong shifter. Ensuing fallout and the story unfolds.

There was very little romance between Caleb and Myron. The 'relationship' starts off with Caleb going alpha in his office and pouncing on Myron.. . All instinct with his wolf, which was downright inconsiderate towards Myron, even if Myron was consenting. A quickie claiming with an employee pounding on the door? Cue in misunderstanding and stubbornness from both men which was settled pretty quickly. After all the book is under 90 pages.

We get a glimpse of Caleb's mind set and it isn't enough to make me feel for him and his situation. There's only a surface skim. I wasn't connected enough to him due to everything that's going on around him. Part of that is due to Caleb messing up the mating.

A lot of past characters pop up and while it's typical to see Maverick show up to lay down the law. .. The other situations were just odd. An omega joining the pack and resulting jealousy and . . . Revenge? What revenge? Another was the Friday date thing between Hawk and Johnny. Was it to show that Hawk isn't as all knowing as he thinks he is? That Johnny can keep a secret? It didn't add to the story, not even as a gathering of past characters. And those were just two examples of sidelined situations. - Dan's Wife

My nit picky questions How far away was that pack that Myron ran from? I wondered how far Myron ran and how thirsty and tired he was when Caleb goes all caveman instead of seeing to his mate's needs. And those injuries. Did Caleb insist on a doctor? What about the pack doctor that's always there when needed? Ported in? How come Caleb wasn't caring for his mate in so many ways? I realize this is a short read but the find touches just aren't there and makes this story incomplete.
